KPJRI organizes lectures, seminars and workshops on a regular basis on historical and archaeological themes. These lectures attract an audience comprising both academics and interested non-professionals.

Seminars

The institute has organized seminars on several core historical themes. The proceedings of these seminars are later published under the auspices of the institute. Thus certain proceedings of the seminar which have been published are Readings in the History of Rural South Bihar and Changing Perspectives and Methodologies in South Asian Archaeology.

The articles presented in the seminars respectively titled ‘History of Science and Technology’ and ‘History of Ideas in Bihar through Centuries’ have recently been published as a special issue of KPJRI’s Journal Prajñā-Bhārtǐ.

Memorial Lecture

A lecture series, instituted in 1982 in the memory of the late K. P. Jayaswal in 1982, is organized annually on 27-28 November. The inaugural lecture of this series was delivered by the eminent historian D.C. Sircar. Since then, scholars such as S.H. Askari, R.S. Sharma, Bipin Chandra, Prof. Romila Thapar, Dr. R. S. Bisht, Dr. Gautam Sen Gupta, Prof. Vidula Jayaswal, Prof. K.M. Shrimali and Prof. K. M. Panikkar have delivered lectures in this series. These lectures have been published as monographs by the Institute.

Know Your Heritage Series

Under this series, KPJRI organises lectures on different themes pertaining to the history and culture of Bihar such as music, dance, monuments, religion, art, architecture and literature. These lectures are popular among the students and citizens of Patna.
